The Clip Settings Window shows some information about the current clip, including its length (duration) and transcript.
There are two modes for setting the duration of a clip: Duration and Start + End Times. You can switch between these modes using the toggle at the top of the window.
In Duration mode you can simple set the duration in minutes, seconds and milliseconds. If there is an audio clip assigned in the Clip Editor, it will be impossible to set this value higher than the duration of the audio clip. If you change it to a lower value, you will be given the option to Keep Marker Times, which keeps any existing markers in the correct place, and prompted that saving your changes will result in the audio clip being trimmed.
Trimming a clip in this manner will not cause any data to be lost, the trimmed clip is saved as a new audio clip in the same folder as the original.
In Start + End Times mode, you can choose both a start time and an end time, and a new duration will be calculated from the difference between them. With no audio clip selected, this lets you add or remove time from both the start and end of the clip, and with an audio clip chosen, it allows you to trim the clip at either end.
Note that internally, the duration is always stored as a simple length value in seconds. The start time will always be displayed as 0:00 in the Clip Editor.
The transcript text area underneath provides a way to store the text of the audio alongside the clip. This can be written out manually, or loaded automatically from a text file. It is used by certain AutoSync Modules to assist with phoneme marker generation, and some third-party assets can make use of it for displaying subtitles.
