# Microsoft Azure Speech Recognition

### Description

Generates a text transcript from an audio clip. This can be useful if you want to process clips with the [Montreal Forced Aligner](/lipsync-pro/extensions/official-autosync-modules/montreal-forced-aligner.md) module but don't already have transcripts available.

## Setup

1. Download and import from the Extensions Window as normal.
2. If you don't already have one, register for an [Azure free account](https://azure.microsoft.com/free/).
3. Follow[ the instructions](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cognitive-services/speech-service/overview#try-the-speech-service-for-free) to create a Speech Service resource, making a note of the **Subscription Key** and **Region** used.
4. Go to the AutoSync tab of the [Clip Editor's Settings screen](/lipsync-pro/editor-windows-and-inspectors/clip-editor.md#settings-screen). If the module was installed correctly in the first step, there should be a **Transcription/Microsoft Azure Speech Recognition Settings** section.
5. Enter your **Subscription Key** in the appropriate field, then pick the correct **Region** from the drop-down.
